Each lesson below usually accounts for one day of Physical Education class. Please read over the statements with your students prior to thier class and ask them if they can do these and have them show your or tell you how they can do these. At the end of each lesson, your child should be able to explain or perform the I Can statement listed for that day's lesson. Going over these statements will prepare your child for the day's lesson and help them to become more successful in Physical E
Unit 1: Movement Concepts/Skill Development
Aug. 19-22 Lesson 1 "I Can" statement: I can travel in personal and general space without bumping others or falling down (body control).
Aug. 23-28 Lesson 2 "I Can" statement: I can travel in forward and sideways directions and change quickly to a signal.
Lesson 3 "I Can" statements: I can move my body in straight, curved, and zig zag pathways while traveling.
I can follow the pathway that my parnter makes.
Lesson 4 "I Can" statement: I can place a variety of body parts in high, medium, and low levels.
Lesson 5 "I Can" statements: I can make large and small body shapes while traveling.
I can form round, narrow, wide, and twisted shapes alone or with a partner.
Lesson 6 "I Can" statement: I can tell/show the difference between slow and fast movements.
Lesson 7 "I Can" statements: I can move over, under, around, and through peple (shapes).
I can travel around stationary obstacles without touching them.
I can travel while demonstrating a variet of relationships to self and others.
Lesson 8 "I Can" statements: I can identify and preform the loco-motor movements of walking, running, jumping, and hopping.
I can walk and run using a mature motor pattern.
I can leap from one foot to the other.
Lesson 9 "I Can" statements: I can gallop forward using a basic rhythmical galloping pattern (heel to toe).
I can slike sideways using a basic rhythmical pattern.
I can skip forward using a basic rhythmical pattern (step and hop).
Lesson 10 "I Can" Statements: I can lead or follow a partner using a variety of loco-motor movements.
I can create a movement sequence using at least 3 loco-motor movement patterns.
